Recent Awards and Recognition

Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) greatly appreciates the support we receive from various sources. This support often comes in the form of awards and commendations, which we proudly share below with gratitude from our staff and board.

2024 CYSO Note of Excellence Award
In 2024, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra honored LCA at its annual benefit with the “Note of Excellence Award.” This award celebrates our positive impact on the lives of young musicians and the broader music community. We are deeply grateful for this recognition and remain dedicated to fostering the artistic growth and success of youth in the arts.

Musical America’s Resilient Warriors of the Year
In response to the pandemic, LCA created a diverse range of new services and programs targeted at the specific challenges faced by individual artists and arts organizations. In 2022, Musical America named our Executive Director to its list of Top Resilient Warriors of the Year for our “game changing innovation” during this period.

“Red Cross for the Arts”
Ellen Wadey, the Arts & Culture Program Officer of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, referred to LCA as “like the Red Cross for the Arts.” While we appreciate the compliment, Ellen’s words are even more significant for recognizing the severity of the pandemic crisis and its impact on our arts community.

An Angel to the Arts
Reflecting on our history, in 2014, Peter Mars, in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, referred to LCA as “an angel to the arts.” This heartfelt recognition underscores our longstanding commitment to providing legal support and resources to artists and arts organizations, highlighting the enduring impact LCA has had on the creative community.

These honors are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters. We are inspired to continue our mission of providing invaluable legal services to the arts community and are grateful for the recognition of our efforts. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey and helped us achieve these milestones.
