Music Publishing and the Mechanical Licensing Collective

This year, the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) began collecting and distributing mechanical royalties from streaming and download music services in the United States. How has this new organization changed the way songwriters receive their mechanical royalties? Join LCA, Jeffrey Becker of Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, and Serona Elton from the MLC for a discussion of the ways in which songwriters make money from their music, the Music Modernization Act, and the new tools and services provided by the MLC.

Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) is the only pro bono legal service organization in Illinois that has expertise in all areas of the arts.  For 48 years, LCA has assisted thousands of artists and arts organizations of all kinds with their legal issues through its legal referral bank and education program, LawSmarts.
