Legal Protections Addressing Gender-Based Violence & Sexual Harassment

Gender-based violence and sexual harassment can take many forms and it affects people across communities, workplaces, and creative fields. Understanding the legal protections available, and how to access them, is a critical step toward safety, accountability, and support.

Join Lawyers for the Creative Arts for an educational program examining the legal frameworks that address sexual harassment and gender-based violence in different workplace settings. This session will cover key federal and state protections, workplace and institutional responsibilities, civil remedies, and resources for both lawyers and survivors. We’ll also discuss documentation, reporting pathways, and how advocates, employers, and organizations can respond in ways that are legally sound and survivor-centered.

This program is designed for artists, arts administrators, educators, advocates, attorneys, and community members seeking a clearer understanding of their rights and responsibilities. Time will be reserved for Q&A.

Ms. Barr represents clients in a broad range of workplace matters, including discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, whistleblower claims, medical leave rights, and biometric privacy.

A significant focus of Ms. Barr’s practice is advocating for individuals who have experienced workplace discrimination and harassment based on disability, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and pregnancy.
